DOOR POP AT PULASKI AND LEWIS LANE

Wednesday, February 17, 2010
-
Seven minutes after the midnight hour, the Hose Company and Company 5-9 were alerted for the 10-50 PI at the intersection of Pulaski Highway and Lewis Lane.  Shortly after the initial alert, dispatch upgraded the assignment to a 10-50 PI with subjects reported trapped.  Chief 5, Chief 5-1, Chief 5-2, Engine 512 (w/10), Engine 513 (w/3), Quint 5 (w/8), Rescue 5 (w/7) and Tower 5 (w/4) marked up shortly after alert.  Engine 512 (Goll) was first to arrive at 0014 hours with a two vehicle MVA and advised of one patient trapped.  Rescue 5 was next to arrive and crews quickly went to work stabilizing the vehicle, establishing patient care, pulling a one and 3/4" handline and began popping the driver's door of a SUV with Rescue 5's maverick tool.  Remaining units checked for hazards and established patient care in vehicle #2.  Extrication was completed by 0021 hours and crews began to wrap up.  Hose Company units were on scene until the patients were transported to a Baltimore Trauma Center and then cleared.  Chief 5 (Hurst) held the "Pulaski Highway" command.
